I want to share some candid feedback about my experience in this interview process. I was genuinely looking forward to it, so it was disappointing how it unfolded.
The initial call with the recruiter went well and felt aligned with what I expected. However, it took about a week and a half to schedule the second interview with the hiring manager. That conversation was set to be 45 minutes, but it lasted about 20. The tone felt rushed and transactional, with rapid-fire questions and very little opportunity for dialogue. I did not feel that there was much interest in getting to know me as a candidate, and the conversation did not feel particularly welcoming or engaging. By the end of the call, I was unsure whether I even wanted to continue in the process.
This was not my first time interviewing with Chewy, and I have had similar experiences in past interview processes. I share this feedback because the candidate experience has a meaningful impact on how people perceive the organization, and I believe there is an opportunity to make the process feel more thoughtful, conversational, and reflective of the company’s values.
