Took the time to contact the head of the department via LinkedIn with a personalized message regarding my experience. Received a very positive note back welcoming a continued discussions/interview. Never heard from the recruiter whom he assigned to speak with me, and ended up receiving a generic rejection email two weeks later even after I took the time to call and email the recruiter as requested. Not the best customer service/recruiting style and burned a networking bridge locally in a new market in which the company is attempting to grow in.
