I joined a video call for a first stage interview. For the first few minutes the interviewer was trying to find and load my CV which felt a little awkward, then began asking questions. Most were generic interview questions that I have received (and also asked) before, however some of the questions were red flags - lots of questions about dealing with internal team issues, problematic colleagues etc. there were at least three questions of this nature, which rang alarm bells for me. I was asked to address shorter-length employment with a couple of companies and told this was a red flag. These were due to redundancies, which I explained, but I felt this was an outdated view of modern career paths. The interviewer had quite a stern style and was incredibly formal compared to other interview experiences I’ve had. Despite having admired the company for many years, I withdrew my application from the process after the interview (despite being invited to a second round), due to my concerns about a toxic culture/work environment.
