      Application

I interviewed at Central Market (Austin, TX)

      Interview

I interviewed during a hiring event; I first went through a group interview (where they asked fairly straightforward, simple questions and had an exercise to practice teamwork) and then had an interview with the manager

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Central Market (Dallas, TX) in Oct 2022

      Interview

The process was fairly quick. It was about 2 hours, maybe a little more if you make it past the initial interview/ first impression/ So I had "reserved" a spot thru Eventbrite (like an online ticket booth). Showed up, gave me a freebie bag and had some breakfast in case you hadn't eaten. Sat down because I hadn't applied for a position but I did mention to someone that I was interested in the In-Store Shopper (Curbside) position, so they jotted my name down. So if you're interested in a position, apply for it before you show. Nowhere on the flyer did it say apply beforehand, but I guess it helps. They had us seat in the culinary kitchen where they teach cooking classes so theres plenty of people. After like 30 min, several of us were called to sit in a conference room (~12 of us). All department leads sat across from us so they can see the interviewees in person and have a hand in the process to picking who they think would be a good fit. They introduce themselves to us as we did to others. Plenty of questions from there on paper. There's one where you recreate your resume with a paper of plates set out. You will be using that to describe yourself essentially. If you browse more reviews im sure you can find a list somewhere. When it's your turn to speak, do so clearly and loud enough to be heard and its a plus if you're fluid about the answers/descriptors you wrote, NOT the questions. I used this as an opportunity to paint myself as imperfect, so I mentioned my pros and cons. They hand you a smaller sheet with 4different questions in which we were instructed to verbally answer one. *TELL ABOUT A TIME WHEN-1) You had to cook a meal with one person OR a group of people. What were some struggles/successes? 2)A meal/recipe didn't go as planned. What did you learn from this experience? 3)You used your favorite ingredient to create a recipe/ Why would you recommend it? 4)A tool that everyone should have in their kitchen? Why? After that, dept leads left and spoke amongst themselves to choose who would fit best and give more one on one interviews which include availability, how good you are at receiving feedback, handling a difficult customer. I couldn't really write any of these down and this is the more personal portion. My second interview actually was scheduled 2 days after this hiring event because she was in another city for work, so plan for any hiccups like that. Overall I had a wonderful time. Spoke with the other interviewees after the mass questioning. Once it is confirmed you get the position you will receive an email to go through some initial signups, choose your "first day" which will be setting up your I-9 and working info stuffs and getting your uniform. Day 2 you wear your uniform and attend your First Bite (orientation). NOTE: The outermost layer MUST HAVE the Central Market logo!! Jeans, black pants and Khakis, and shorts to your knee. NO RIPS!! They said you can take as many as you need, low key wish I was a bit more greedy because you have to order more and I have to go to a laundromat to wash my clothes and I only have 3 shirts to work with. Take note on how many hours you plan to work each week! Clean appearance and personal hygiene is super big here. Best of Luck!!
