      Assistant Store Manager Interview

      Oct 4, 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Catbird in Oct 2025

      Interview

I applied online for an assistant manager role at their new Atlanta location. Two hours later, I got an interview request. I provided upcoming times I was available. Two days after getting the interview offer, the same hiring manager told me they had already hired a candidate whose availability was more "aligned" with their needs. This struck me as insanely unprofessional, and in direct opposition to their supposed company values (people over profit). This type of disregard for candidates is absolutely contributing to the awful hiring culture thousands of Americans are experiencing. It also made me think the person they originally hired for the role backed out for some reason, and now they are scrambling to replace them. Either way, a sense of urgency and preference for specific availability should have been transparent in the job description itself!
