Don't both. Average salary in toronto for architects has been between $50 - 60k, depending on experience for years now. The associate who I interviewed with explicity told me they aren't looking to pay more than $40k.
Interview itself was pretty standard -- look over drawings, make sure you know what you're doing, have a pulse, etc. It was fast and not particularly engaging. The associate seemed nice enough, but the entire process left a sour taste in retrospect.
