      Product Manager Interview

      Dec 22, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Phoenix, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at CARVANA (Phoenix, AZ)

      Interview

10 min phone screen with HR, 15 min high level discussion with Hiring Manager followed by a “project.” I shared my experience including the “project” with a number of colleagues and we all agree - this is either a fishing scam by the hiring manager to help her solve her own Carvana product problems or she doesn’t know what she’s doing so she’s throwing a mountain at you to see if you fit an undefined mold she’s looking for you to be out of the box. In any case, I sunk several hours into the project keeping my consultant hat on so my work stayed at a level just above, “giving away the kitchen sink.” I delivered this within 2 business days as I wasn’t expecting a project of this scope after my call with the HM. I even let HR know it’d be an extra day in advance. Anyways... No call to discuss my labors - just an auto reply from HR saying ‘thank you’ about a week later.

      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at CARVANA

      Interview

This is the company I spent most time to prepare for. I went through HR screening- hiring manager- take home assignment - super day consisting of 3 interviews. The interviews are cheerful. The HR is super helpful and responds very timely. I can sense the good working culture. I waited for about 10 days and then was told that they chose another candidate. I appreciate the detailed feedback. But I feel the interview process could have fewer rounds, 3 could already be enough.

      Question 1

      1. Can you explain more about the your last internship project? 2. How did you learn what product management was, and what made you interested in it?

      Interview

Recruiter Call -> Hiring Manager Call ->Take Home Assignment -> Onsite Interview. This was the entire process. I was shortlisted for the apex program. I applied online, gave an interview with the Director of Product and got ghosted. This role was very much aligned with what I really wanted to do and I feel I could have done so well but anyways their loss. At Least they could have rejected. I kept waiting for longer than I should have.

      Product Manager Interview

      Feb 2, 2026
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Tempe, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at CARVANA (Tempe, AZ)

      Interview

I was proactively contacted by a recruiter for this role; I did not apply. Based on the initial outreach and recruiter conversations, the role and expectations were presented in a specific way that ultimately did not align with what surfaced later in the process. After a recruiter screen and an interview with the hiring manager, I was asked to complete an extensive take-home assignment involving raw data analysis, spreadsheet creation, and a full presentation. This work required a substantial time investment outside of normal work hours while I was working full time. As the interview process progressed, expectations for the role became increasingly unclear and inconsistent. Some interviewers emphasized deep hands-on raw data analysis, while others stated that the role would rely on existing tools and platforms that already aggregate data. Additional interviews focused heavily on Pardot and Salesforce expertise, which was not reflected in the take-home assignment. These discrepancies differed not only between interviewers, but also from the expectations originally set by the recruiter. After receiving positive feedback, I was invited to a multi-hour, on-site interview day that required taking a full day off work and paying out-of-pocket for travel. The day included a panel presentation review, a cross-functional interview, and a final interview with the hiring manager. During the final interview, the hiring manager appeared disengaged, and my questions were met with limited interest. Overall, the process demonstrated a lack of role clarity and limited sensitivity to candidate time, effort, and personal expense.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

I was asked how I would segment outreach to re-engage customers and drive faster conversion on a newly acquired platform.
