I applied online. I interviewed at Burlington Stores (Burlington, NJ) in Nov 2020
Interview
Film videos of prompted questions with one attempt to refilm.
2nd round is an intro with other interviewees. Followed by 2 45 minute interviews with two people each. First is with HR & Buyer, asking previous work situations or future potential situations. 2nd interview a DMM dominates the entire interview and has you analyze sales report.
The interview wouldn’t have been bad if they would set women up with only women interviewers. The men seem extremely sexist and self absorbed.

Question 1
If your buyer is out of the office on a Monday and a vendor sends you a special offer on a already stocked item. What do you do?

Interview
Interview Process:
I applied on September 1st and the entire process took approximately 2 months. I received the first HireVue in early October, and the final interview was scheduled for mid-November (originally planned for late November, but moved up after I mentioned receiving another offer).
Interview Structure:
The final interview was with HR and a Buyer who had gone through the program. They present a chart and ask for observations as well as asking situational questions.
Tip for future candidates: Point out specific colors and styles that are performing well, and identify any trends you notice to support your analysis. Be prepared for multiple follow-up questions on your observations.
My Experience:
During the interview, I found it challenging to fully complete my responses due to frequent interruptions with follow-up questions as well as the Buyer asking questions in a fast paced so I had to keep asking for her to repeat what she said. The buyer also asked about prioritizing 4 tasks to assess thought process. Make sure to mention who you would communicate these tasks to.
When I asked questions that had been well-received at other companies, I was met with “Why are you asking that?” For example, when I inquired about handling missing data scenarios, the response was that Burlington doesn’t encounter those situations. The overall dynamic felt off, and questions related to my experience seemed to be viewed unfavorably rather than as genuine curiosity about the role.
Overall: The process felt lengthy, and the interview environment didn’t feel particularly welcoming or collaborative. I honestly think there is some luck to this interview process as it really depends on who you get.

Question 1
What is doing well and what is not doing well? (When they give the chart they’ll ask that)
It’s the afternoon, how would you prioritize 4 tasks (communicating with vendors, sales report to VP due at a certain time, meeting with buyers, vendor inquires)?
The first interview is via hire vue. It involves scenario and behavioral questions and then retail math questions. It also includes 3 games to play afterwards to complete the interview process. I heard relatively fast like a day or two after about Final interview which of as had with an HR representative and an assistant buyer. It included a short introduction, mock scenario questions involving the sample review chart they shared prior to the interview and behavioral questions after. It went great.
