I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Buildium (Boston, MA) in Nov 2013
Interview
I found Buildium through Robert Half in a speed dating type interview. The first interview was informal fit and feel with another Engineer and one of the Co-founders. Following the screening, I was given a programming assignment that I could do at home. The assignment was both challenging and rewarding in that I felt that I could represent my coding style. Finally, I was brought in to meet two engineers to review my assignment and answer some coding questions on a whiteboard. I then spoke with the VP of development and then met with both co-founders again. Buildium was quick with their decision and made the process feel comfortable. At the end I felt that they both knew me as a person as well as my expertise in development without needing to put me through endless interviews or intense programming on the spot.

Question 1
The at home assignment was the most difficult as it was fairly open ended. This was both helpful in allowing me to spend as much/as little time as I wanted, but also left me wondering how much detail I should go in to.
