I interviewed at British Study Centres (London, England)
Interview
Three interviews for a 35k operations manager job. They then offered me a Centre Manager position FTC which was less money (traditionally these are more). They offered before xmas and then no one was available. I asked for more money to bring it inline with industry standard. They offered me £600pw which is still well below industry standard (£800 - £1000 pw). On the 2nd they offered me the salary increase which I accepted. On the 3rd of Jan they put the offer on hold. On the 7th of Jan i emailed asking for an update. Onthe 9th of Jan they withdrew their offer.
Untrustworthy, unreliable and operate without consideration. Go with Oxford International, Ardmore, Stafford House or anyone but these absolute jokers.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
It wasnt the questioning, although that was basic and often made it impossible to answer using STAR methodology
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at British Study Centres (Sliema) in Jun 2024
Interview
First, there was a pre-interview phonecall (10 mins) to assess my interest. Then I was interviewed by two managers, one located in the UK and one in Malta. The interview lasted approximately an hour and covered the key issues you'd expect (teaching style; experience; attitude towards relocation, office culture, and CPD; conflict resolution). There were (intentionally) no curveballs. Indeed, they were very open, professional, and friendly throughout. It seems like it would be a lovely place to work.

Question 1
- Tell us about your experience with different age ranges.
- Why are you interested in relocating to Malta?
- What is your attitude towards teaching observation?
- What is your attitude towards CPD sessions?
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at British Study Centres (Brighton, England) in Sep 2019
Interview
Applied online, a week later received a call inviting me to interview, I was later sent an email with the interview details.
I arrived at the office and was told to have a seat on the reception while the hiring manager was called, I was also given a lanyard to wear while onsite.
The hiring manager along with a reception staff took me to a classroom to have the interview which I was not expecting, the interview invite only mentioned the hiring manager as the interviewer and not the other person.
The interview was to last 1hr in total however after the grilling and never ending questions asked by the interviewers I was blindsided by their request to do a test which I was not informed of prior, I was also cautious of time as I had planned my return journey for a certain time which I missed due to their questions going over the allotted time.
The activity was to calculate some hours and pay and then to imagine I was working on excel and write down the formula I’d use to calculate these things.
After this was done I was given a brief tour of the school and said goodbye.
The interview was almost 2 weeks ago and I am yet to hear back even though they stated I’d be hearing back by Friday or Monday at the latest (interviewed Wednesday).
I’m definitely very unimpressed by this and their lack of professionalism. If I took my time to attend your interview, the least you could possibly do is to let me know the outcome whether positive or negative.
