      Graphic Designer Interview

      Jul 2, 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Brightway Insurance in Jun 2021

      Interview

A couple of days after I applied for the position, I received an email asking for an initial phone interview. The phone interview was incredibly short - barely lasted 5 minutes. The call was simple enough; they were confirming my work history and some details with my resume. At the conclusion of the call, I was told to look out for an email that would be scheduling a zoom call for the next-step interview. That phone call took place on a Wednesday, and on Friday when I hadn't received anything (since they also stated they wanted this next step interview to be done by the end of the week) I followed up with the person via email, asking for an update. I also asked if I wasn't going to be moving forward any further in the process that they let me know so that I could plan accordingly. The email was sent on Friday at 4:30pm so I wasn't expecting a response back until the beginning of the next week. Well Monday and Tuesday came and went, and I received nothing. I am no stranger to how recruiting works and I understand that it can take some time to sift through all the resumes and the initial contacts that were made with the potential candidates, but waiting that long to say something is pretty ridiculous to me, ESPECIALLY when I am told I will IN FACT be hearing by the end of the week for the secondary interview. Well, I finally received an email on Thursday evening stating that I will not be moving forward with the process and that a "tough decision was made" since competition is so fierce for Brightway job openings. Seriously, I'm not upset that I didn't move on to the next step; I am not new to the job search and interview process and I know that I'm not going to get an interview at each place I apply to. What I am upset about is that it took them almost a week to respond to my simple question when it just would have taken them literally 3 minutes to type a response and say "We're still working through all the resumes, but we'll be in touch by the end of the week." Is that seriously too much to ask? All through my career, I have made it a point to reply to emails as quickly as I can even if I don't have an answer for people right away. I let them know where I am in having an answer for them, since people like to be kept updated. It's just good email etiquette. I think it's pretty rude to do otherwise, and if that's how this company approaches customer service then I'm pretty confident I dodged a bullet with this one.

We're sorry to hear the application and interview process didn't go as smoothly as it could have gone. Thank you for your candid feedback.
