      Senior Project Manager Interview

      Nov 6, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Nashville, TN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bridgestone Americas (Nashville, TN) in Oct 2019

      Interview

      1) Recruiter call (30min) - Discussed general details of the position. Asked standard personality and experience questions. I would add that the recruiter was incredibly kind and insightful throughout the process - that is, until the end when NO feedback was provided as to why they decided on someone else and completely ghosted. You apply to corporate, expect corporate treatment. 2) Sr Manager call (30min) - Discussed my background in further detail, project-specific + needs and requirements of the position against my experience/knowledge. Overall pleasant and painful experience. Invited for in-person. 3) First round in-person interview (1hr) - Panel of three, Supervisor, fellow Sr PM, and Biz Dev. Walked through very, VERY general PM questions. Literally each person took turns asking questions from a pre-defined list and no real dialogue. Advice: Keep answers short and sweet. Go into further detail if asked to explain. 4) Final panel in-person interview (1hr) - Again with same panel of three; same theme and flow. Surprised at the real lack of in-depth discussions on experience or other familiarity. Still, process was very robotic (though they were very pleasant throughout). Not a lot of time for my own questions, quickly came and booted out once the hour was up (must be difficulty getting conference rooms). General Advice: - Prepare yourself with cue-card style responses. - Keep things moving and you'll do fine. - Don't expect any real response or cohesive understanding of the interview process - the wheel keeps turning (so to speak). - Also..get your PMP. - First and foremost, ASK if this is a position originally intended for an internal hire. If so, save yourself the trouble.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

(Standard cue-card PM questions, literally read from a printed sheet of paper passed around in round-robin) Qs: What is the most difficult project you've managed? How do you handle conflict? Name a time when you've failed. List five words to describe you. (yes..this was a question) What is the most important quality of a good PM? How do you mitigate risk? What is your typical PM process? Name a time (questions in general) etc.
