I submitted a CV and cover letter, and was then asked to complete a writing exercise based on the kind of work the internship involved. When they liked this, I was asked in for an interview, but being away at university, they let this be a Skype interview.

I was asked about a specific bit of work experience that I had mentioned in my CV and cover letter, and what I had learned from it.

Interview
Did an online application then was asked to do a written test. Consisting of summarizing an interview with a professor talking about a clinical trial. Then was invited to a short 45 minute interview on site with two members of staff. Staff were very friendly and put me at ease. Asked about my motivations for the internship and company, how I handle stress and a high work load. Asked for more details about things on my cv/ cover letter. Discussed the role in more detail.

Interview
Initial interview followed by a second round interview, had to wait 2.5 weeks to find out if we were successful in making it to the second round. The second round involved 3 extremely lengthy pre interview tasks
