      Devops Engineer Interview

      Jul 18, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Boxed.com (New York, NY) in Jul 2017

      Interview

She pronounced my name wrong and when I corrected her she said "close enough". How about some professionalism? Some of us have ethnic names and it's super disrespectful to just say "close enough". She then proceeded to say that the job was in New York and if that was okay (since I am not in the area). I told her it would depend on the position and company for it to make sense for me to move out there. She then told me that it was rude to other employees if I worked remotely. I NEVER said I wanted to work remotely. I then told her I'm not interested anymore and hung up. I have never had such a rude HR interviewer in my life (you know who you are). From not caring about pronouncing my name correctly to putting words in my mouth about working remotely, just unbelievable. Boxed - I am sure you have plenty of great staff but this particular member was just not up to par. Maybe she needs some more training, but I would not want anyone else to experience what I did as I was excited about the opportunity at first. Whoever at Boxed who reads this can take it as what they want, but if you want your company to continue to improve you should take further action on improving the interview experience. Good luck to anyone else interviewing with this particular HR person!
