I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at BorgWarner (Bellwood, IL)
Interview
Application through the company's career webpage, then had a 30-min. phone screening a few days after. Brought in on site for an in-person interview that consisted of two one-hour panels; the first with three interviewers, the second with three as well. Brought in on site for a second in-person interview that consisted of two one-hour panels again; the first with two interviewers and the second with three.
Overall, very organized and efficient interview process with very quick turnaround. From application to offer within one week. The only negative in the process was the condescending tone of Jennifer Robbins, the HR Manager at the company. She would question the validity of my resume in front of the entire interview panel and then act like I wouldn't be qualified enough for the job. The HR Manager should obviously do their due diligence of each candidate, but they also need to sell the company to each candidate as well - and this did the opposite.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Mostly behavioral questions with some technical questions digging deeper into projects I led with my previous role at a different company. They will give you hypothetical situations to see how would handle problems in the workplace and manufacturing floor.
The interview started with one sided questioning and a short test on circuit diagram by an Engineer and manager. After the short test, the interviewers didn't even bother to explain the job role and wanted to move on to the interview by the HR.
The interviewers get to refer to the candidate's resume hard copy yet they expect the candidate memorize the job description. But through the questioning, it seems the actual job role and online provided job descriptions are mismatched.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BorgWarner in Oct 2024
Interview
Phone screen with HR, phone interview with direct manager and his manager. In person interview with whole team broken out in small groups. I really appreciated the in person process, I felt like it was a complete and accurate view of what the role would entail. I ended up declining the offer because it was less than I was currently making and didn't make sense.
