      Copywriter Interview

      Jun 11, 2015
      Anonymous employee
      Orem Station, UT
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Boostability (Orem Station, UT) in Jul 2014

      Interview

The process included a phone screen and an in-person interview by two people at the same time. The application included a pre-interview test of my writing abilities. The test included a hypothetical task that you would be asked to complete at work. The assignment was to write a blog post that was a certain number of words about a topic that was pretty random. Other parts of the test included editing. I don't remember the specific interview questions, but I believe they asked about working in a team. The interviewers had a list of questions from which they could select questions. It was a relaxed and non-stressful environment for the interview.

      Question 1

I think they asked about an experience I had working in teams.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Boostability (Lindon, UT)

      Interview

This is a long one. They called one Friday morning around 9 am to set up the interview for the following Monday. I spent the remainder of the day calling the two numbers I was provided trying to reschedule for Tuesday due to travel reasons. I left multiple voicemails and emails withing business hours. No response. I fly a redeye to Utah on Sunday night, not knowing if I need to come in for the interview on Monday. I finally received a response 3 hours before my scheduled interview time, and thankfully rescheduled the interview. On Tuesday morning, I get a call saying they had filled the position and I no longer needed to come in. Somehow, between when they called me to schedule my interview (Friday at 9 am) and the time when they canceled the interview (Tuesday at 9:30 am), they had filled the position. TL;DR: I spent $700 on lodging and airfare to come to Utah for an interview. They canceled my interview on the day of the interview, saying they had already filled the position.

      Question 1

Make sure to ask them to comp your airfare before traveling.

All of our positions at Boostability we hire for in-state. If we ever come across a candidate that is out of state, we follow up with them to make sure they are relocating to Utah before we get started with the hiring process as we do not pay for re-locations or travel airfare for interviews.
