      Sales and Analytics Interview

      Jul 25, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Bloomberg (London, England) in Jul 2019

      Interview

      1. CV upload 2. Online assessment 3. Pre-recorded video interview 4. Interview with the team leaders (video) 5. Interview with the managers (video) Though not extensively, but I have used Glassdoor to prepare for the interviews, just to be aware of what is expected of me. I would not say that it proved to be useful, since everyone's experience differs. In my case, I had no tricky questions and had no questions related to finance. The team leader interview went great, interviewers were positive people willing to help you through the process and clarify questions. They seemed genuinely interested in getting to know me and what I can bring to Bloomberg. Unfortunately, I'd say I experienced the total opposite at the manager interview and obviously failed. The questions were very simply and manageable, but I have never in my life experienced a worse interview than that. One of the managers was quite rude and arrogant. He showed zero interest in getting to know me and always was rushing me. He was reading off the script, and was not interested in anything more. He has not clarified any of the questions I would ask and was giving me rude responses. He also was using his phone constantly during the interview, without apologizing for it, which gave me an expression I was boring him and obviously he was not really interested in my responses that much as he was in his phone. Since I have never experienced such a treatment in the interview, I was so shocked that I was not able to answer any of the questions properly, although I am very sure I would have been able to answer them properly given the right interview atmosphere. I am a person that easily admits if I do something wrong, however I strongly believe that the reason I failed this interview was because of this particular interviewer who set a negative and tense atmosphere right from the start, so I really could not focus and truly express myself, my relevant experiences and genuine motivation to work there. I really felt I would be a good match for this role, however it is sad to realize that I have failed it mainly because of the incompetency of one of the interviewers. Even if he might have been having a bad day, it is not fair to bring your bad mood along to the interview. Its a HUGE shame that such people are even allowed to interview candidates, because Bloomberg may lose on the right candidates only because of the incompetency of interviewers who failed to truly get to know the candidates. After the interview, my impression on Bloomberg was highly negative, because this was the opposite of the culture I thought Bloomberg promoted and which I was attracted to. However, truth be told, team leaders were really nice people, the second manager interviewer was decent and most importantly a guy from the HR team was highly professional. Therefore, I am still trying to think positively about Bloomberg and this could have been only one person in a bad mood. If not to take him into account, I still want to believe that Bloomberg has a great corporate culture with inspiring and open-minded people. However, my biggest suggestion for Bloomberg would be to really make sure that only professional and competent interviewers are allowed to interview candidates. Interviewers are the face of Bloomberg for the applicants, so they must accordingly show what the culture in Bloomberg is like, that is really prides itself with.
