I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at BlackRock (New York, NY) in Jan 2013
Interview
Resume submission followed by a quick on-campus interview (during graduate school) and then an invitation to interview in New York. 2-3 30-minute sessions covering mostly personality, fit, and general interest in real estate. No specific industry knowledge was tested. The entire process felt a bit cursory - perhaps they were never very interested in me as a candidate, but there didn't seem to be much depth to the questions asked or their level of engagement.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked about my level of commitment to New York - I had spent much of my life in other parts of the country and they were unsure of my desire to be in New York long-term.
First interview with direct reporting manager, followed by BD and portfolio managers. total 5-6 rounds. 30mins each.
The entire process is quite long, ie after each interview it took around a week for HR to come back and schedule another.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at BlackRock (Luxembourg) in Apr 2026
Interview
Interview process went pretty fast
- email from HR to confirm salary expectations, desire to leave current employer
- 1st interview with hiring manager of 30 min
- 2nd and 3rd interview with Directors of 30min each
- 4th additional interview with another Director of 45min
Always in contact with HR and organisation of meeting was easy and pretty straightforward. Interviews themselves were also pretty chill and normal interview questions.
