      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Birlasoft (Noida) in Sep 2021

      Interview

This is a very long, sad but true story of my interview process with Birlasoft. I spent all these minutes writing this review just because this phase was very tough for me and I don’t want anyone else or even my enemies to go through this. The technical people were very polite to me and were really asking me logical questions which covered almost every bit of mandatory validations for a Data Scientist. Both the technical round went well and I was really excited to work with such bright minds at Birlasoft. Then after 3-4 days, they asked me to upload my docs for verification, which I immediately did as I was excited and was really looking for a change. BUT then came the HR round and let me tell you that my experience with their HR was PATHETIC, I know their HR/PR will have time to reply to this review but HR didn't have time to come to my HR round of the interview for which they made me wait for 30 minutes (for 30 minutes scheduled call). I emailed the HR folk that I'm waiting for you in the call, but no reply, then I requested for rescheduling of the call, still no response, no courtesy to apologize for wasting 30 minutes of their (might to be employee). Then the 3rd party consultant involved called me 2 days later, to reschedule the HR call again to which I agreed. In the second call after making me wait for 10 minutes that HR finally joined the call (Oh thank god!) and didn't have the courtesy to switch their video on, nor did they have an apology for not connecting the scheduled call as per their proposed time the other day. Then the discussion of salary happened, we both agreed and they told me to email me my offer in 2 working days. I was really happy and excited to join them, I partied and I promised myself that I won’t apply for more interviews as I considered this activity of taking counter offers as unethical. After that day, they ghosted me for 3 weeks, it is okay to put a candidate on hold but it is NOT okay to promise the release of offer and then not be on their words. Then, they again asked me to upload my docs on their portal and I did that lengthy process because I still had hope to join them and meanwhile, I was refusing the other prospects for other opportunities as well because I wanted to join Birlasoft only. Then, I started getting to know that the background verification process taking place, a person even came to my house to verify me, this made me more anxious about receiving the offer letter. I thought okay after all BGV is fulfilled then they will relieve their offer and then finally the day came, I received the offer letter via email, ignored everything negative in my mind and built castles in the air. Felt like I have got everything I wanted. But, one thing that I found strange was that the HR didn’t even congratulate me on email or a call, NO, not even once they called me. I might be too emotional about it but this is what I was expecting from them as now the offer has come and I’m an employee who will join them soon, or maybe expecting a call from the HR for congratulating was too much to ask for. After reading the offer letter, I found that the date of joining was not as per my discussion with HR, it was 25 days before the best possible date for me to join them. I didn’t have any contact numbers for the Birla’s HR, so I called the third-party consultant to get my DOJ changed, but the third-party consultant told me to resign from my current organization and they will get it done as it was not an issue for Birlasoft at all. I emailed the HR, thanked them very nicely and requested them to change my DOJ after resigning from my current organization on the same day. But then the history repeated, HR didn't have time to reply to me even after I resigned not even “Welcome to Birlasoft!, we are working on this and will get back to you or something”. Waited and didn’t get any reply from them at all. Third-party consultants also stopped picking my calls, now I was finding myself in a tough situation. Then something happened again, they emailed me that my background verification has failed by stating a very illogical and abrupt legal reason. A first-class student would call that reason as illogical but they thought it was valid. My sister is a lawyer so was able to I clear their doubts up very easily with proof and all valid pieces of evidence, to which they replied "Thanks for the clarification!" and no apologies, nothing. I think this was a trick to revoke my offer or maybe not, who knows! But, after going through these depressing 2 months, I decided to calm myself, trust my skills and not be so emotional for a company that isn’t paying respect. I called the third party again and thankfully they picked and I told them myself that I am not joining without even having another offer. They didn’t even ask me “WHY?”, they told me “OKAY! I WILL FORWARD YOUR MESSAGE TO THEM” that’s it! It was so simple for them. I know there could be multiple good HRs with the company too but the 2-3 I
