One on one interview with the district manager. I was asked questions about my resume, why I wanted to work at Big 5, and if I was willing to float to other stores to gain experience at each store location.
I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Big 5 Sporting Goods
Interview
Typical interview. I was asked about my previous experience, strengths, weaknesses. I was asked about why I wanted to work for Big 5. I was asked about sporting experience and interests. They asked about references, and checked in on my previous employers. They also took a very long time processing a very large amount of paperwork required for hire. I wasn't sure why it took so long for my hire paperwork to be complete until I worked with managers later on. They really don't understand what exactly is required. More manager hiring training is essential. Absolutely no salary negotiation was even considered. It was take it or leave it.

Question 1
Would you be willing to shave your soul patch? I've always been clean-shaven, but with a soul patch, or goatee, or sideburns. I later worked with people who were allowed to have tattoos showing and nose piercing and gauged ears, but my facial hair was an absolute condition to being hired. Didn't expect that at all.
I applied online. I interviewed at Big 5 Sporting Goods (Las Vegas, NV) in Aug 2022
Interview
It was easy, just need to have experience about sporting goods. You just need to be your self and sell your self to them. They have asked me if I have experience on sports and also selling guns.
They are always in need of a Manager Trainee because their employees always leave and find a better job due to the low pay. So all you have to do is dress well for the interview and just listen and you basically get the job.
