      Buyer Interview

      Sep 28, 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Danbury, CT
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Belimo (Danbury, CT) in Aug 2017

      Interview

The process was a strange and unsatisfying one. Belimo has posted their Sr. Buyer position on and off for the past several years and at times I have applied to it knowing full well that I am well qualified and competent for said position yet never had received so much as a thanks but no thanks for applying email, it came as a great surprise when days after applying online to their latest post I received and email asking if was available for a face to face interview on one of two days. This I found highly irregular since nearly every company I have ever dealt with first telephones that prospect and ask several qualifying questions such as desired pay, when can you start, etc. None of these were asked in the email but I stated my availability and sent off my response, nearly 2 weeks later I get an email at 10:45pm on a Thursday confirming my Monday interview which I readily declined stating I had not heard from the recruiter/HR in 2 weeks and was given no reason for the radio silence just another date to stop by. At this point I knew this was a sham interview but I had nothing else going on for my second choice of dates and I accepted; I showed up about 30mins early not knowing if I would be screened by security or hit traffic. Just as I thought she would be the HR rep was patronizing, left me in a fish bowl conference room to my own devises for about 20mins when the VP came along and asked his list of questions, then the hiring manager came and asked his questions all in all this interview took about 90mins, lastly the HR rep came in asked a few questions and took me on a tour; their Danbury CT facility is impressive, standup/sit down desk, nice common areas with SubZero mini fridges, etc. and I believe they use this as a show of how cool it would be to work here because they are not willing to pay for the experience they are seeking. I was not impressed and I would ask that anyone looking to interview/work for this company do so with eyes wide open and a HUGE grain of salt to kill the bad taste being there will certainly leave.
