I applied through university. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Bain & Company (Chicago, IL) in Sep 2013
Interview
Bain case interviews are among the most challenging, largely because the 2nd round features a written case exercise. This exercise, while pretty tough (review tons of data and then sit for a verbal exam with a partner drilling you on your conclusions and logic) is a pretty good approximation of the job itself. I think it is an effective recruitment tool and I think it really helps candidates understand what they are getting into.
First round of interviews is typically two case interviews with two different interviews. Second round will feature 1 verbal case, 1 hour of work time on the written case, 1 "presentation" / verbal exam on your analysis for the written case, and 1 "fit" interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked about my personal passions--I'm sure this is a standard question throughout Bain during the fit interview in 2nd rounds.
Ghosted by HR for Malaysia office after interviewing 3 rounds. Interviewed by associate, senior associate and partner. Typical consulting case questions. Not too difficult and employees were relatively personable. Would've appreciated better communication from the HR team instead of simple ghosting. do better
I applied online and got a online assessment after ~1 week. I completed the online test but I haven't heard back since then. The timeline is a bit uncertain to me.
First round case interviews. Got standard questions about profitability and market entry. IMO the most difficult part was reading complex charts and distilling the key insights with time pressure. There was little behavioral.
