I applied online for a Product Manager role in November. A recruiter at the company emailed me in January saying that it was a low-priority hire for them and that I could be a good fit for the Customer Success Project Manager role. I agreed to be put in as a candidate and went through 4 rounds: a phone screen with the recruiter, a phone interview with the CEO, then an onsite interview with people from marketing and engineering, and then another onsite with the CEO and a woman from the product team. At the end the recruiter said they would pass on me and instead wanted to hire a junior product manager, the very role they said was lower priority. She also said they are looking for someone who has experience in "dealing with ambiguity," which in my experience means the job responsibilities are not clearly defined, and thus there may not be a clear metric by which to evaluate your performance. If you are looking at this position and thrive in that kind of situation then you may be successful there.
