I spoke with the recruiter, and the conversation was terrific. We talked about BOK as a company and the role. Round two with the hiring manager didn't go well. First, this wasn't the first time I spoke to her about a social role, but she didn't remember interviewing me a year prior for their contract role which was awkward. Not a good sign. Despite this, I thought the interview went well, as we had a detailed discussion about the organization, team, tasks, and role. I got feedback and wasn't moving on because I was several minutes late to the interview and didn't explain why. Reality: I was less than three minutes late because logging into Microsoft Teams on a Mac can cause problems. I even joked about this. Also, I was "multi-tasking" during the interview. I was going through a multi-page doc with my pre-written bullet point, notes I take for all interviews, and questions I ask, and I went to go find a note I took that I remembered as she spoke to reference it. One thing bugged me was that she said I was too senior for the role. Why interview me? The years were on the page of my resume, or was it my grey hair? Who knows, but after two interviews with her, both in 2024 and 2025, she reflects poorly on this organization. I interview often and have had a lot of stories, but this was one of the lowest points.
