I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Azibo (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2022
Interview
I've had time to properly reflect on this interview and what it means to me about the company culture. Here is my best take on it and hope you fare better.
I have to agree with the previous review. The interview wasn't professional. I was hoping to at least take with me a learning experience but it felt like my time was wasted. The best word which captured the experience for me was "catfished". It was pointless and not worth even as a practice interview.
The interview started slow and misinformed. Interest was made in my background but most of the interviewer's effort was made to bolstering the company's reputation. Somewhere in the mid-interview, I knew it was not worth the time but wanted to see if coming up with something so spontaneous would change the interviewer's interest in me. I thought if I wasn't getting anything out of this interview, then I'll make sure to make something from the interaction as a lesson. I managed to strike a conversation and it lead to the interviewer opening up about the company culture. I've picked up subtle hints that they might reinforce high school drama work culture. For example, when I asked more technical questions the interviewer seemed disinterested but when I amused or entertained, they were much more open to consideration.
The main thing they care about is culture fit. Not algorithmic skills or aptitude as much. Take the interview with a grain of salt. I'm thinking they just started, so some professionalism is probably getting tweaked here and there. I'm sure they'll eventually habituate.
Thank you for the feedback! It's been quite a while since this interview happened and let us tell you - our process has VASTLY improved. Not only have our hiring process and candidate experience protocols changed, so have we! We've progressed and improved and it's thanks to feedback like yours. We hope you landed somewhere great!
