My experience with Ayers Saint Gross was frustrating and unprofessional from start to finish. I was asked to drive all the way from Virginia Tech to Baltimore, with no offer to compensate for gas or lodging expenses. Despite the significant travel involved, when I inquired about the possibility of a remote interview, I was promptly told no without any further discussion.
The HR person made it clear that I could reach out with questions, but when I did, she ignored most of my inquiries. This lack of communication and responsiveness was a red flag. The interview itself was poorly handled, lasting exactly 30 minutes—timed down to the minute—which felt rushed and impersonal.
It was apparent that the HR representative was young and inexperienced, struggling to handle basic aspects of her role. For a company that claims to be a leader in its field, I expected a much more polished and professional process. They should seriously consider finding someone more capable to handle HR interactions, as this experience left me with a very negative impression of their company.
Seems like they only hire people who are either already in the area or from the area, since everyone one of the architects in the room was from the area.
