I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Axon (Scottsdale, AZ) in Jun 2022
Interview
Unexpectedly terrible and disappointed in Axon. WAS offered to move to the next level but asked to withdraw my application.
First time ever being insulted by an Interviewer, disrespectful to the point of name-calling. (First interview cancelled <90 minutes notice).
30-minute Zoom. Interviewer took time explaining company, leadership, mission, etc. Position was different than advertised (“Associate” level), told this was “Entry”.
Required tech skills not advertised (SQL, Tableau – no problem, have this anyway). Pay rate significantly low @50k. Average “Sourcing Analyst” position is 65K-70K.
Was asked 4 questions at once then strangely went downhill. Ironically wasted remainder of interview berating me for “taking too long to answer questions", called me an offensive term, stated I should only use 2 minutes to answer a question.
Criticized each answer with examples of responses I “should have” provided. Reprimanded me for providing “personal information we can’t even use” (I thought my education, tech skills and law enforcement Veteran status were germane to a law enforcement tech company).
Notably, I got to ask ZERO questions.
Told I would be moved forward in interview process with contingency I answer additional emailed questions post-interview (“since you took too long”).
Spoke as if I would be in trouble with her Hiring Manager, (with emphasis) “I’m going to have to go back to my Hiring Manager AND TELL HIM I don’t have all his questions answered because you took too long. He’s going to say, ‘I need an analyst who is focused…’” – this was repeated twice.
Ended by saying I was a good candidate for this and many Axon positions (???) I didn't need proof this was her power trip - but there you have it.
Emailed 8 more questions - 12 questions "planned" for a 30-minute interview. I suspect I'm not the only person this has happened to.
This Interviewer couched her behavior as that of an "educator" of us inept interviewees "I want my candidates to be prepared. What will you do in the next interview if there's more than one person?"
Truly unbelievable...
