      Business Analyst Interview

      Sep 10, 2020
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Menlo Park, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Avellino Labs (Menlo Park, CA) in Sep 2020

      Interview

Recruiters were prompt to respond, and the process seemed professional until the end. The original job description included a salary of $85-$100K with a generous benefits package. But a week after I interviewed, they removed then re-posted the exact same job description, but without the compensation information. When I followed up, they said they passed on my application because they narrowed the specs. (They did not move forward with other candidates.) I did not mention to them I saw the new, identical job posting, minus the salary & benefits. They have a new team in this area, and it looked like they were simply using the first applicants just to test if they can offer a lower pay. I've heard it's not unusual for companies to do this, but I feel that they just completed wasted my time just so they can low-ball later candidates.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Very generic interview questions: Tell me about yourself. Why should we hire you? Why do you want to work for us? Your strengths / weaknesses?

I am sorry that you did not have a favorable experience. Normally, we do not post salary information, but we always hire at fair market rates. That's just good business practices. If we interviewed you, I am sure you are a high-quality candidate; however, an internal candidate came forward and we fill the job internally to give a great employee an exciting career path. Perhaps we will have another opportunity for your in the future.
