      Product Manager Interview

      Jul 31, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Automatic

      Interview

The interview consisted of an phone screen with recruiter and an initial phone interview with the hiring manager. They then asked that I come onsite for a full day of in-person interviews. I felt that the interview process was handled very unprofessionally and without regard to my schedule. They changed the agenda of my onsite interview several times, even asking me to come early the day before and then pushing back my arrival time the day of. In addition to meeting in person with several members of the team, the requested 2 other phone interviews to suit the schedules of those who cancelled and couldn't show up for our originally planned time. After 3 weeks of following up with the recruiter and asking about decisions and timelines, I still had received no response or feedback. I find this extremely inconsiderate and poor recruiting practice especially after asking someone to dedicate a full day onsite and several hours of phone interviews. Finally, the company seemed to have no clear direction for the business nor could they describe what the actual day-to-day functions or responsibilities of the role entail. It seems as though there is no agreement on what the future will look like since the Sirius acquisition and that there are issues with retention and leadership.

      Product Manager Interview

      Apr 25, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Automatic (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2019

      Interview

HR screen followed by a phone then an in-person conversation with the hiring manager then an interview with a cross functional group of people. Communication throughout the process was very poor save for one competent office manager. I never received an update, a thank you or anything. I was left in limbo if that gives you any indication of the culture and how leadership values people and relationships. Though a startup environment, the energy level in the office was low and the office is very plain. It was clear there's no organizational alignment save for an upcoming use case and each cross-functional area leadership had vastly different perspectives on the business. Got the sense the working style was aggressive and opinionated vs. collaborative and respectful. The process was not a positive one and it reflects badly on the organization.
