I went through 3 interviews over the course of about a month with different members of the marketing team, and had a very positive experience with each conversation. Everyone I spoke with was thoughtful and engaging, and I felt there was strong mutual interest. After the third interview, the role shifted from contract to full-time, and I was invited to complete a project and panel interview. The project was scheduled about two weeks after my last conversation, which felt a little odd to have a longer gap at that stage of the process.
I completed the project the same day, but the following morning I was informed that the company’s hiring needs had changed and they would no longer be moving forward with the role. While I understand that business needs can evolve, it was disappointing and frustrating to have the process end at such a late stage after a significant time and energy investment. Future candidates may want to be aware that priorities can shift even near the final steps.
Overall, I had a positive impression of the people I met, but how the process ended really left a bad taste in my mouth.
