If I’m honest it felt like they’d already decided the candidate before my interview had begun so feel a little disappointed that they wasted my time.
Was told to bring my right to work documents but was never asked for them at any point and was only asked one proper question (about my previous experience). The rest of the interview was spent with the interviewers talking about the job and how they don’t like dealing with customers who are on the phone etc. When I tried to shift the conversation back onto myself it soon drifted back onto them.
To further this I was told at the interview that on this occasion they were only hiring for one role but next month they’d be starting to hire for the Christmas peak and would be taking on much more staff, and if I wasn’t to be successful I should apply for that. This really added to my suspicions that the interview was pretty pointless as the candidate had already been chosen.
There was an application, a group activity and role play where you had to describe items from the catalogue and then if successful there was a competency interview with a manager.
General questions were asking and the interview was quite informal.
Tell me about yourself and your experience
How you would deal with difficult customers.
When have you worked in a team to achieve a target.
