      Impact Investment Manager Interview

      Dec 17, 2012

      No offer
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Aqua-Spark

      Interview

I received an e-mail invitation for a telephone interview with the choice between two dates and confirmed. On the date of the interview, there was a slight mix-up in the time on the interviewers side (due to time difference between interviewer and interviewee), but they were very responsive and polite with the outcome that it only delayed the start of the interview by a short time. Questions asked were on background and position competency related e.g. describe a situation where one had to use own initiative and find a solution. Then as I have not worked in this area before, the interviewer set an assignment due 5 days after. The assignment consisted of finding a company for investing and pitching it to the interviewer. Assignment was submitted on time and a confirmation was received to say that the interviewer would get back the following day after having read it. After 2 days had passed without any update, a brief e-mail was sent from me, to inquire whether there had been a chance to read it and whether there were any further questions prior to feedback. As no response has been forthcoming, this unfortunately reflects badly on the company. If deciding not to move forward, the interviewer having written that they would get back the following day, could have written to say thanks, but that based on the assignment, they have decided not to move forward in the hiring process.

      Question 1

The set assignment was both a difficult and welcome challenge. As no guidelines were given or rather format of pitch could be in any way, it leaves a very open space for interpretation when one isn't aware of what preference the employer might have or not. At the same time, it gives the potential employee an idea of what work in the company might be like.
