I received an email to do a "phone screen" shortly after I submitted my application. I put "phone screen" in quotes because that it how it was framed to me, but it was really a phone interview. They did not even ask a standard describe yourself question. Instead, they began with why are you leaving your current position. This caught me a bit off-guard as I was expecting to talk about my current work a bit, and I was not asked to do that until later in the interview. I would have prepared differently had I realized that this was more of a phone interview than a phone screen.
I fully admit that I could have done better in the interview, but I felt like my salary requirements were a turn off, even though they were within the range that the job posting included. That felt like a bit of a red flag for me, so I'm not sure whether this would have been a good fit. I received notice shortly after the phone interview that they were going to look at different candidates because my skills were not a match for the position.
