I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Anstar (Leeds, England)
Interview
I had a screening call scheduled through a recruiter. We discussed my background and motivations for moving into a new role. I explained how my experience could contribute to the business while also supporting my professional growth. During the discussion, it seemed that the company gives more importance to business priorities and little to no support on individual professional development. I also felt there was an expectation for candidates to have detailed knowledge of the company at this early stage of the process. I was told that I will receive a call on the next steps, I did not receive any further communication regarding next steps. Overall, the experience left a somewhat disappointing impression of the company’s approach to candidate engagement and development.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. As a growing business, we place a lot of importance on both company growth and individual development, and many of our team members have progressed quickly by taking on responsibility early and learning across different areas of the business. We also encourage candidates to research the company before interviews, particularly as our roles involve a mix of commercial understanding, operations and technical products.
We appreciate the feedback regarding communication during the process and will take it on board. Wishing you all the best in your future role search.
I applied online. I interviewed at Anstar in Jan 2025
Interview
It was a thorough interview, but simple questions asked were met by rudeness and brash responses. They were retracted after numerous rebuttals, but it left huge red flags for how this company operates and communicates internally. One can be direct, without being rude, and they should have done more to sell themselves as an employer.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We aim for interviews to be open, honest and thorough, while also giving candidates a realistic understanding of the pace and expectations of working in a growing business. We appreciate that different communication styles won’t suit everyone, though we always expect discussions to remain respectful and constructive on both sides. We appreciate the feedback and wish you all the best in your future career.
