I had a disappointing recruitment experience for the Junior Medical Editor role. My background and editing experience were clearly outlined in my application, and I was shortlisted with full visibility of this. I then completed an editing assessment, followed by a phone interview and two video interviews. After investing significant time in the process, I was told that my editing experience was “not sufficient” for the role. While feedback is appreciated, this was information that could have been assessed much earlier. Given the final reason for rejection, the length of the recruitment process felt unnecessary and could be better streamlined to respect candidates’ time.
