      Interview

Straightforward; I applied online and the recruiter contacted me for a phone screen within a week. I completed the second of three rounds (panel interview) but did not move on from there.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Allegiant Air (Las Vegas, NV) in Sep 2021

      Interview

Applied: 8/13/21 HR Phone Interview: 8/18/21 Panel Interview: 8/31/21 Team Interview: 9/01/21 Reject via Phone by Hiring Mgr: 9/03/21 Overall Experience: Positive No Offer Presented Salary Range: $64k - $80k based on knowledge, skills, and abilities This role was presented as a “Junior -Level” role in the EOPM requiring a Bachelor degree plus 1 year of experience as a Project Manager. Other common certifications pertaining to Project Management and Agile frameworks would be helpful but were not required. HR Phone Interview: the most casual I’ve had, but I attribute that to the recruiter’s style. My best guess was that he was filtering for ability to communicate clearly, resistance to speaking negatively about former co-workers & employers, and to get an overall impression of cultural fit to the organization, the team, and the hiring manager. After speaking with him for 28 minutes, he informed me that I had made the “short list” and would be moving forward. The following week I received two Zoom meeting invitations. Zoom Interview #1: consisted of a 4-person panel to include the hiring manager and three director-level employees from different departments supported by this role. Following are the questions asked by the panel: 1. Walk us thru ur resume. 2. What specifically brought you to look for work with 3. Allegiant Airline? (Do not confuse this with the next question which was also asked). 4. Why do you want to work for Allegiant Air? 5. Walk us thru how you approach a new project. 6. What is your leadership style? 7. How has the Pandemic changed you? 8. Tell us a failure you’ve been a part of and how you recovered. 9. Tell us your greatest accomplishment. 10. What experience do you have making formal presentations and to what level of employees? 11. Tell us a time you had to deal w a difficult customer/employee. 12. What feedback have you been given by your Manager that required you to make an improvement? AKA Tell us about a weakness. 13. Have you directly worked with a Scrum Master and are you familiar with a Scrum Master’s role within an organization? These questions rotated through the panel and rarely were there follow-up questions once I completed my answer. The panel left about 7 minutes at the end to allow me to ask questions and I could have used more time. I won’t share my questions because you know what’s important to you. Zoom Interview #2: consisted of “the team” which was the hiring manager (again) and the sole program manager on the team. For the most part, it was a repeat of interview #1 but with a new player not present at Interview #1. Clearly, this was an opportunity for the hiring manager to get a second chance at determining fit and to measure response consistency. Surprises: I was surprised at not being asked one question about Allegiant Air’s revenue model, earnings statements, routes and cities serviced, factors affecting daily business decisions, company mission & values, their new Allways Loyalty program, etc. How many times are candidates told to study up on these important data points? Overall Impression: Positive. This was a 98% situation-based Interview. I was so impressed that the hiring manager personally called me to let me know she had selected another candidate - this is a rarity. Most companies will either ghost a candidate or will send a generic rejection by email. I hope you have found this to be helpful in your interview preparation with Allegiant Air.
