I was connected to the opportunity through Indeed.com. After receiving a phone call with a brief explanation of the unusual job expectations (combined experience in Social Media Marketing and Help Desk/IT), the interview was scheduled for as soon as I was available. I was given an assignment of creating a social media campaign to promote an airline partner of APG USA, and a blog post about travel. The next day I walked out of Grand Central, looking up at the Chrysler Building right next door, and entered the Graybar Building. The office was intimate and fits everyone just perfectly. I sat down with the current Chief Technical Officer and the Branding and Corporate Services Executive to discuss my past experiences and the responsibilities of the position. It was as formal as an interview should be, but concise and comfortable. I was given a background of the company and asked about any suggestions regarding how I would improve the current state of social media, and IT knowledge I've gained in the past.
In true NY style, I was hired that day, and started the very next day. Quick and simple.
