      Trainer - L&D Specialist Interview

      Sep 1, 2023

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Adyen (Dublin, Dublin) in Aug 2023

      Interview

The interview process was overall quite messy. There was a lot of confusion around setting up meetings and who I would be meeting with, and accidentally sending links to book in time for interviews. There was very little clarity on what was expected of the interview process and how far you are into it at any stage. There were no questions about my notice period, no competency type of interview before being asked to complete a case study. The approach to the interviews seemed a bit backwards in comparison to other companies that I've interacted with, but this might be a style that has worked for them. On the positive side, Adyen were very quick to come back after each stage, so there wasn't a lot of waiting around. The feedback that I got was quite poor. The phone call lasted 2 minutes, even though I invested over 10 hours into the process (3 interviews [<3 hours ] and 1 case study [10 hours]). It was two pieces of feedback, which conflicted with each other and not delivered by anyone I had previously interacted with at the company. It was essentially that my approach was too detailed, but I didn't focus on 1 area (which wasn't even outlined in the case study at all). The ironic part of it all was that my case study focused on... feedback. I got the message that I clearly wasn't the type of person they were looking for. The case study was on feedback for a reason, so there's clearly some work required here and I wish the team nothing but success and luck with it.
