I applied in-person. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Advance Auto Parts (Bethlehem, PA) in Sep 2012
Interview
After putting in an application, I was called in to interview a couple of days later. The interview lasted about 30 minutes, where the interviewer (store manager) asked me a few questions about my retail experience and my automotive experience. He also spent a good amount of time (maybe 10 minutes) showing me around the store and asking me personal questions to try and get to know me better. It was all in all very friendly. After the interview, I was told I would hear back soon, and two or three days later I was offered a position.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The interviewer asked me about my experience and knowledge with commonly replaced items on cars, such as brake pads, various fluid changes, batteries - the kind of thing a home mechanic would regularly encounter.
Pretty straightforward and easy. Only one interview session then got hired. Didn’t have to have any automotive experience but it would be helpful if you did. Nothing to stress over, just be on time and answer the questions.
