I had been working as a merchandiser part-time, and at the recommendation of my DM, was called in to discuss a full-time management position at a corporate level. Softball interview, chummed it up with the boss's boss for 45 minutes and got highly favorable feedback. I was told a corporate job offer was imminent. Six months and several broken promises later, I left the company, still only a part-time merchandiser. My reason? No opportunity for personal growth. Not sure if there in a corporate hiring freeze or what, but I couldn't move up the ladder despite having connections, high recommendations and a great interview. Disappointing.
