I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at AccelByte (Toronto, ON) in Sep 2023
Interview
The process is ridiculously long. Five interviews is not acceptable for a regular technical writer position. After the initial screening call, I completed an assessment task (about 1 hour to complete, pretty straightforward), and then was informed I would have to interview with four more people separately. The only one that made sense was the actual technical writing team. The product manager admitted to learning about the job posting as he went, and the HR team was quite curt. The VP was incredibly personable and professional, though. Most of the interviews were scheduled in the evening (7:30pm, 10pm, and 8pm). By the final interview, I had enough. I got a bad feeling about the company.

Question 1
Why do you want to work here? Do you know markup? What tools did you use? Are you familiar with REST APIs?

Interview
I participated in one 30-minute screening interview for a contract position. The recruitment team is in Indonesia, so the call was scheduled during their work hours (evening for me, which was fine). I had a difficult time understanding the person interviewing me, and there was some confusion with the questions because of the language barrier. After the screening interview, I was told their process requires 2-3 more interviews and that they wouldn't discuss rate until the end. I tried to explain that as a contractor, it's industry standard to advertise the rate up front, but I don't know if the person completely understood what I was trying to say. I followed up afterwards with an email summarizing the contents of our discussion.

Question 1
I honestly couldn't completely understand the questions, but I think the gist of it was "tell us about yourself" and "what kind of work are you doing at XYZ position."

Interview
Received and email to schedule interview, replied with times/days available, no response back. Sent follow up email and recruiter said they weren’t available Calendy sent, which should have been what happened from the beginning. The recruiter then showed up late to the interview, if this was just a formality for someone they already wanted to hire then why waste my time and living in Indonesia is not an excuse for horrible recruiting process. They sent a internal confidential survey afterwards to avoid a negative Glassdoor review.
