Interview
The process was straight forward. I received a call from the HR department asking if I would come in for an interview. There were three people conducting the interview; HR, Operations Manager and the Plant manager. The interview was very straight forward and the questions from HR and the Operations manager were the ones I expected but the Plant manager was obviously not prepared for the interview. As a matter of fact I don't think he was paying attention while I was being asked questions by the other departments. He spent all of his time working on his laptop.
After this interview I was called back for second interview by the plant manager. This interview was, in my opinion, a little hostile from the plant manager. He asked questions about my background and he expressed concerns about how I would relate to the people. I told him I've spent 20+ years working very closely with my direct reports and I take great pride in developing and mentoring those that work for me. I left that interview feeling less impressed with the plant manager than I had during our first interview.
