      Operations Manager Interview

      Sep 24, 2014
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ATW Companies in Sep 2014

      Interview

The H.R. Manager, was very professional, kind and courteous. The interview with her went great. She was extremely informative and had an excellent positive attitude. She ushered me in to meet with the COO immediately after my interview with her were things took a turn for the worse. During the interview I felt it was very positive, the COO presented me with various hypothetical situations and inquired about how I would handle them. I felt I did well at this and our banter seem to progress. Once we got to speaking about my education he began to shift his questioning to direct me towards a supervisor position- I had interest in the Operations Manager position. Although I have experience as a Plant Manager I felt that this was overlooked. Towards the end of the interview I asked about his background. He was the COO of a local well-known jewelry company which has a horrible reputation when it comes to retaining its supervisors. I had spoke to a number of people in the industry and found that when he came on board he fired virtually all staff and average tenure for a supervisor was 12 months. This is the case with ATW Company as well. The COO's reputation is high demand with very little appreciation for hard work. Once my questioning of him continued I think we both realized that I was aware of how he ran his previous company (which he was eventually let go from) and that he would not be a person I would want to work for. The interview was left at a positive note but we both knew that I was not the person for this position. This position is more suited toward an entry level type supervisor with a bachelors degree.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

No question was more difficult than the other. The most difficult part of the interview was trying to develop a rapport with with the COO.
