I applied to this company a while ago and only recently reflected on how I owe it to other potential candidates to offer honest feedback. If I had come across this review, I personally would have not applied, and I know I would have appreciated this. That is my only motivation for writing this.
I was interviewed by a white American man who started the interview with an assumption that I wasn't born in (insert western country), and I had to politely inform him that I was born there. I thought that assumption was interesting because it matched the energy that I felt throughout the interview.
I can't say it was Islamophobia and racism, and I cannot read people's intentions. But, considering the assumption and energy, I feel someone else with a similar lived experience as mine with racism would appreciate this post.
If I misread the energy or was wrong in anyway, I stand corrected. However, the fact that I was compelled to follow up on this out of concern that there was something more to it is enough for me to write this out of a sense of obligation,
