      HR Specialist Interview

      Jan 13, 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at AHEDD in Jan 2022

      Interview

Applied via Indeed and was asked to complete their employment application - be aware that this application contains questionable information that can contribute to inherent bias based on age and socioeconomic background. I did not complete parts of the application based on this but was still moved forward in the process. References were requested through an online form, where again questionable information is asked of references that contribute to inherent bias. Virtual interview with President, VP, and others. Questions asked were about experience in various basic HR disciplines. All parties voiced that a benefit in working with AHEDD was flexibility with schedule and that most tasks in this role "could be completed from home," so that would be fine. Received an offer 2 days after interview. I requested to receive the offer via email and to have 24 hours to connect back after reviewing, which they were taken aback by but agreed to send and allow time for consideration. I then received a call asking about what flexibility I needed with my schedule. I proposed 2 different schedules, one of which would have me in the office 91% of the time during their regular business hours, working from home ~3 hours per week. Despite multiple assertions of flexibility and that most tasks in this role "could be completed from home" this drastically changed to a requirement to be in office entirely with no flexibility. This job and the culture of this organization was repeatedly misrepresented in the interview and all communications. Note that the organization has been attempting to fill this role for several months and this may be why.
