What is the salary like at Sugared + Bronzed?

Only good thing about working at sugared and bronzed is the weekly pay check. Other than that don’t bother wasting your time here. Licensed estheticians are paid $1 above minimum wage and the company doesn’t care enough about their employees to ever consider giving you a raise.

Corporate brings in managers with little to no experience who are thrown into fully booked schedules with no proper resources or training to help their employees navigate. Want a day off? Good luck. The time off policy is laughable and designed to make you fail. Ive known women who were still forced to come into with covid. Management doesn’t care. They want you there to make them as much money as you possibly can.

They have a pretty strict attendance policy. If you run out of sick time and need to call out you get written up.

Good tips if a lot of customers

Terrible in the winter, drought time. They take your hours away as well.

It's a fast-paced environment. The co-workers really make it a fun job and the clients are generally really great. The pay is pretty good, especially when it's busy and you can earn tips and commission and bonuses. Offers benefits, but you do have to work full-time to get them. This was my first job in the beauty industry and they trained me with everything I needed to know. Overall, really great experience

EVERYTHING ELSE! It deeply saddens me that this company does NOT care about their employees. They lure you in with the promise that this is a "flexible" job that you can work as you go to school or pursue other passions but this is simply not true. The needs of the often evil clients always come first. I have been and have seen my coworkers be harassed over and over again by the same clients and the company refuses to do anything about it. I have felt unsafe with certain clients and have still had to service them. Time off is an actual joke. When I started at the company, the rules seemed fair. You could request time off at least 30 days in advance, and you would get it off. Anything under 30 days needed coverage. When a certain employee was hired on in the corporate office, everything changed. My coworkers and I often had to worry about missing funerals, weddings, birthdays- ALL TO GIVE SOMEONE A SPRAY TAN OR SUGAR THEIR PRIVATE PARTS! This is INSANE. The company uses a corrupt review system that bases our performances on the vague question "Would you recommended us to a friend?" and we are judged on parking, prices, whether the salon was "too cold"- all things out of a Spray Tan Tech or Sugarista's control but we were expected to get perfect ones anyway. Corporate management constantly gaslit me and pretended to care about me but it was very obvious that the only thing they care about is money. It's literally disgusting. They try to "push people out" that they don't like for petty, personal reasons and have lost a lot of great workers due to this. The CEO posts embarrassing TikToks about how you have to work on your birthday or you're a big baby as she sits in her multi million dollar mansion with a massage room and a steam room while her employees struggle to pay for rent getting paid minimum wage. It's literally gross.

-Corporate has super high standards, sometimes putting employees at risk (i.e. Cali wildfires, still accepting rude or potentially dangerous clients) -Reliance on Net Promoter Score which is basically designed for you to fail unless you are a basically perfect person/employee -You are basically ineligible for benefits outside of 401k unless you're management -FAVORITISM especially to those who are higher performing than others even if they lack in other important areas -Forcing you to take services even if you aren't comfortable with it -Only offer esthetician positions to those who they feel like "fit the bill", will offer you a sprayer position until they feel like promoting you when they find the resources to train/pay you EVEN if you applied for an esthetician position -You aren't given automatic gratuity during training like regular technicians are. You have to rely on the generosity of the client and most of the time they take training services because they're broke so usually no tip. Which means you're only making the hourly. -Clients aren't allowed to choose who they want to be serviced by. They have to accept whoever is on shift. This affected my NPS score several times simply because a client wanted another esthetician. -You only get 30 minutes for lunch -Training across companies/stores is SUPER inconsistent. Different stores do different things their own way and you'll get reprimanded if you show a new employee a way that isn't "by the book". - NONE OF THE STORE DIRECTORS SAVE FOR A FEW ARE LICENSED ESTHETICIANS. THEY TRY TO GIVE ESTHI ADVICE TO YOU OR CLIENTS AND SOUND INCOMPETENT. And honestly this isn't their fault, the company should hire licensed professionals to oversee stores but that would mean paying them as management + licensed professional salary.
