Pros
Supportive team members locally and worldwide. Had to work alone for some time to manage the whole department, then the team members from other departments and countries came to support.
Small team, which means better opportunity for career growth and a lot of opportunities to learn.
Competitive benefits: big transport allowance, medical & insurance coverage also covers family members, dental coverage, performance bonus, annual increment, 13-month salary (AWS) - but are being retracted one by one by the management after management change.
Lots of company events and staff appreciation initiatives - also being reduced significantly after the change in management.
Great company values - unfortunately people don’t really apply them in their work, especially the leaders.
Many learning opportunities, can go to a lot of trainings - also reduced after management change.
Cons
The politics worsened. Management plays favorites and it is obvious.
Most people leaders are not a people person. They are mostly results-oriented. It is harder to have work-life balance now compared to how it was before, as now they controlled more on flexible work arrangements and annual leave applications.
The new HR manager micromanages and keeps shouting when speaking. Her tendency to interrupt conversations, disregard open communication, frequently assert authority, refused to learn and keep making mistakes then blaming her subordinate for the mistakes she made created a stressful environment. She also threatened her subordinates to only listen to her and refused to listen to her subordinates or she’ll give bad performance review.
She refused to do her managerial duties and asked her subordinates to do them instead. Further about her not taking ownership of her own jobs, she even asked people from other department to do the HR jobs.
It is unfortunate to see such a great place turned into a bad place to work at because of the management. A lot of seniors who have been working for years left the company because the culture is getting more toxic.
