Flexible work options but poor pay and balance

      Background investigator
      Current employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Work from home, being able to set your own schedule, uber account for travel, and supportive management team.

      Cons

Absolutely no work life balance, metrics do not make any sense including traveling out in the field, interviews, and typing. Investigators are not paid enough to even compensate the work being done. It seems impossible to level up and make more money. Job just seems impossible and other investigators are sometimes just lazy and you end up playing rushed clean up on top of your caseload.

Great job for those who are interested in Investigations

      Background investigator
      Current employee
      Minneapolis-Saint Paul

      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

I love my job, love the hustle, love the type of work I do protecting our country and helping those to get their clearance. This is a great position for those who are really interested in a career as a federal agent or federal investigator (as I very much am). You work with a variety of different people who are very well connected and investigate people for different federal agencies Peraton is contracted with.

      Cons

Not really a con but this is a hustle type job. You work from home and no one directly watches over you. You have to be very on top of your work. When you first get out in the field, it can be discouraging as you're brand new and are trying to figure out how to maneuver this job. But you have to push through it as it will get easier. So it can be a very much sink or swim type of job.
