What is the hiring process like at Klarna?

      Klarna reviews

      Overall good experience

      Pros

+ Young culture and fast-moving environment + Good work/life balance

      Cons

      - Really bad pay advancement possibilities and complex process - Low wages - Somehow always short of staff in terms of reaching KPIs

Not a good company to work for but good for leaning fast.

      Pros

Lots of work and AI focus. The CFO, CTO and CPO are top class executives.

      Cons

They care very little about people. After 3 years in the company, I saw so many people getting fired or outsource. Even very smart people that were doing a very good job and getting promoted, they got lay off with no explanation. Lots of yes people close to the CEO that add very little value and make work much harder. + the CEO is the only one that make decisions so contributor opinions are not recognised even though they are experts on their fields. Everything changes all the time for no reason. Most people leave after 2 years so projects are left unfinished and new people come in and change things again.

It was a much better place to work

      Pros

Smart, ambitious people Nice location of the office in Stockholm

      Cons

Company strategy seems to be to use the people, burn them out and hire new batch after. There is no recognition or proper compensation. In addition, constant layoffs give employees the anxiety and fear to be fired any day. Company culture was very different few years ago, but after company shrank in size and overloaded every employee and team, even the nicest smartest people became indifferent and hard to reach. Not because they are bad, simply because they are trying to survive, so they are forced to avoid taking any additional responsibilities or helping others. It's sad to see how the great cheerful company culture went to the drain because of poor management decisions

Chaotic company with some bright spots. Overall poor leadership

      Software engineer
      Current employee
      Berlin

      Business outlook

      Pros

      - My team members and immediate manager. - Great opportunity for individual learning and personal development. - Salaries for new employees.

      Cons

      - Chaotic, unfocused top leadership whose deliverables for their teams change seemingly on a monthly basis. This is not helped by the CEO, who leads the charge on this scatterbrained approach to goal-setting. - A frankly unqualified COO who personifies the 'Peter Principle'. - Again at the C-level, too much focus on pleasing the CEO and demo-ing shiny new projects and initiatives, rather than setting tangible, achievable, realistic goals. This leads to chaos for the rank employees and line managers because of ever-changing priorities. - Some really unethical business practices like hiring new employees into a pool where they have no defined job, then letting them go after 5.5 months - just before the end of they probation period. Or layoffs of entire departments because of a project deliverable that the CEO didn't like. - A CEO who's a fanboy of Elon Musk and copies his worst tactics: viewing employees as disposable wipes, union-busting, lying about the company's outlook (for example the public hype about Klarna's huge reliance on and massive gains from AI is viewed very differently by internal employees who know the truth). - Poor opportunity for internal growth. This is largely a failure of the HR department, which has never clearly defined objective measures of employee performance reviews.
