      Pros

      - flexible working schedule and work-life balance - growth opportunities - skilled teammates - diverse clients - a great place to learn

Jellyfish the Tapestry: A Polished Front Hiding a Chaotic Mess

      Engineer
      Former employee
      London, England
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Flexible working hours - Working from home is still an option (for now) - Friendly co-workers - Nice offices

      Cons

      - Poor management, resulting in misalignment, confusion, and disjointed operations - Lack of inspiring leadership, with a pervasive lack of enthusiasm and a focus on individual tasks over teamwork - Lack of accountability throughout the business - Poor communication at team levels, with information not being shared - Misleadingly eliminated direct line managers, leading to unclear career guidance and selective task assignment - No career prospects, with a flawed promotion system that hinders career growth and contributes to low morale - Low morale due to no career prospects and continued redundancies with fears of more job cuts as Jellyfish integrates AI into products and recruits heavily from South Africa and Mexico to reduce human resource overheads - Benefits reduced over time - Volunteers asked to become mentors rather than handpicked, proven, and exemplary individuals - Lack of transparency around pay, especially regarding promotion increases, which are determined on an individual basis. This secrecy undermines trust and transparency - Has become to corporate, it feels like shareholders are in control

Good People Sitting on a House of Cards

      Anonymous employee
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Most everyone is generally great to work with, passionate, low-ego and good at what they do - Flexible work policy: office time encouraged but not mandatory - Great roster of clients made up some of the world's most notable brands - All the ingredients for a great organization, but .... some critical flaws

      Cons

      - Leadership mistrust: constantly painting rosy picture when real outlook is bleak (e.g. thin new biz pipeline, cash flow issues, etc.) - Extremely inept financial operations / systems with constant promises of improvement & stability, yet never seemingly gets better - Lack of dedicated growth and big new business wins - Lack of integration across service offerings (e.g. media, creative, research) with right and left hands rarely aligning - Constant layoffs and outsourcing (though they won't call it that) of U.S.-based roles to Mexico and India as a means to make up for the financial P&L flaws - All of the above results in the best resources being stretched far too thin, minimal/no opportunities for earnings increases, and a very unstable future for the orginzation.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Many of the issues you note come down to how disruptive change can be. We are doing our best to adapt an evolving Jellyfish to an evolving industry, and that does lead to some issues which we are doing our best to traverse with as little disruption as possible. It’s unclear from your review if you are a current or former employee - either way we would encourage you to reach out to a member of our People Team to discuss further, as there is only so much we can say or do within the confines of Glassdoor. In any case, we will take your feedback onboard.

      Pros

Future-proofing the company with a strong A.I Solutions feels excellent to be trained and familiar with it when it hits the market. Flexible hours.

      Cons

The economy is making it hard for the company to realise its full potential but they are doing very well relatively.

      Current employee

      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

Flexible working although not unique to JF

      Cons

Everything else. Management have zero empathy. There is no humanness in them. They treat staff like commodities and therefore with the constant rounds of redundancies everyone feels on edge and constantly disposable. I don’t believe the line managers in my capability have actually ever had management experience before or training You’re treated like a toddler and micro managed. Expect to have to disclose everything when you’re working from home, short of toilet breaks or prepared to get questioned. I’ve had a line manager check up on how long I’ve spent in a document before. That sums up the culture here. Awful. There is no job progression or pay rises available - this has been the case for years due to the promotion process being removed (after we were told it was being reviewed it just disappeared) and redundancies meaning no pay rises at all. If the job market wasn’t so terrible I’d be gone.

Flexible work options but toxic leadership and disorganization

      Senior media director
      Former employee
      New York, NY
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business outlook

      Pros

      - Flexible home/hybrid/office policy (no required RTO) - Reasonably good 401K match (4%) with no vesting period

      Cons

      - Massive staffing shortages with a heavy reliance on offshore talent in India to fill gaps, but most people are across 3-5 accounts, pressure to avoid filling open roles - Some senior leadership is quite verbally abusive to junior level folks in very unprofessional ways, and this seems quite accepted by other leaders - Disorganized without much process to speak of - most onboarding or transitions dont really have any oversight - There really isnt any company culture, most people are there just to work and there isnt much effort made to change that perception or reality - Seems to always be having layoffs or letting people go, including very long-tenured employees

      Pros

Amazing office and flexibility on attendance People are kind, smart and hard-working Flexible working Impressive clients

      Cons

Used to be a brilliant, engaging place to work. Now there is no direction, support, or framework for development. Feels like you're a cog in a (not always working) machine rather than a person. Some people are massively overworked while others have nothing to do all day. Client retention is getting worse and there is no sales team to win new business.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. While the day to day work of some individuals within the business may have a limited impact on growth, we believe that everyone is able to contribute to some degree. However, we will take this feedback on board and do our best to temper this messaging moving forward. Regarding your comment about development, after a pause of our previous process, we are in the process of rolling out a new personal development platform and process, which we believe will be more straightforward and equitable for all. If support is needed, we encourage you to reach out to a People Partner or your Capability Partner, or if you don’t feel comfortable doing this, reaching out to a Mental Health First Aider for support. Thanks again.
